Music for guitar ensembles
Rory has composed a number of works for guitar ensemble. In 2005 he won The Classical Guitar Society Sydney Composition Competition with "Jubiloso" and in 2006 won the same award with "Speed Bump".
The works are typically scored for 3 guitars and 1 bass guitar. Ensembles can be of various sizes ranging from a quartet, with one player on each part, to an orchestra of 15 or more with multiple players on each part e.g. Guitar 1 x 5, Guitar 2 x 5, Guitar 3 x 4 and 1 bass guitar. The bass guitar part can also be doubled up one octave by a standard guitar.
These compositions are of intermediate to advanced level and would be a valuable addition to any school's music library.
